cbt manchesterYou have probably heard that cognitive behavioural therapy is the treatment of choice for most mental health problems. Indeed the cbt field is well researched and is the ‘hub’ around which new and creative therapies are currently emerging.

You might consider cbt if you are depressed, anxious or stressed. It is also useful in other areas such as pain management and psychoses.

CBT is a short-term therapy in most cases. Expect 10 to 25 sessions as a rule of thumb.

The initial sessions are for assessment and to collect information about your situation. When we both agree we have enough information, we try to build a shared understanding of your difficulties, known as a formulation. The formulation acts as a kind of map, and is used to guide the techniques used to help you overcome your problem.
