Clients often present with an addiction when they first come for psychotherapy.
The reason for this is that drugs, alcohol and even porn, can be useful ways to help cope with emotional difficulties.
Unfortunately, what starts as a way of coping with a problem, often grows to be a much bigger problem.
I have worked with clients who have been addicted to crystal meth, alcohol, heroin, marijuana, cocaine, porn and prostitutes.
Whatever your addiction, I will treat you with confidentiality and respect.
I also understand that moving away from an addiction can be the hardest thing you will ever ask of yourself.
As with any mental health problem, recovery starts by acknowledging you have a problem.
Visiting a psychotherapist to discuss the difficulties your addiction is creating is an excellent first step.
Fortunately, with the right support, all addictions can be broken.
And this includes yours.
